The Borough Market Book
From London’s “best kept secrets” to being voted “the best market in Britain” by Observer Food Monthly magazine, Borough’s Market’s renaissance has been a fascinating journey of rediscovery.
Known today as bustling retail food market that prides itself on its quality and diversity of produce, for much of a last century the market has known better for its thriving wholesale fruit and vegetable trade.
For over a thousand years a market has been present here on the south side of London Bridge in the Borough Southwark, providing sustenance for Londoners and citizens of the southeast of England, and a backdrop of London’s most colourful history.
The Borough Market Book celebrates what can be achieved when people, place and politics collaborate to bring to market the highest standards and raise a clarion call for markets throughout Britain.
